Pastor Stephanie Schneider.

Greetings!

My name is Rev. Stephanie Schneider, but you can call me Pastor Steph. I have been the Pastor here at FBC Glens Falls since August 2018.  I moved here with my husband, Andrew from South Dakota after serving at 2 churches over the past 5 years.

Growing up, my family attended church at an ELCA. I had a whole lot of head knowledge, but not heart knowledge. In 8th grade, I experienced the Holy Spirit at an event where for the first time I found myself as a child of God.  I attended Jamestown College which is now the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, ND where I graduated with a BA in Elementary Education. I graduated from Sioux Falls Seminary in Sioux Falls, ND in 2012 with a Master in Divinity. I was ordained in 2014 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sioux Falls. I served from 2013 – 2017 as the pastor of Salem United Church of Christ in Parkston , ND, and as interim pastor of First Baptist Church Madison, SD for six months in 2018.

My faith has brought me through many different denominations including ELCA, PCUSA, NAB, SBC, UCC and ABC/USA. Why land in the ABC? For the first time, I could reconcile how God created me (female) and how God called me into ministry.  After wrestling with my personal theology, I found a place to call home. My ecumenical work has deeply informed my ministry, and continues to daily.

God has given me a few extra special experiences in my 10+ years of ministry experience. I have worked in inner-city Winnipeg, MB and Sioux Falls, SD, served a multicultural church as a children’s director, helped to launch a non-profit orphanage and school in Liberia, organized local mission trips through Urban Plunge, and planned several large events locally and regionally. I have worked and volunteered as a camp counselor since 2006 and look forward to this every summer. I enjoy using my background in education to teach others about work of God through Jesus Christ.

The important stuff about me…I enjoy sitting down over a good cup of tea to talk about God’s work around us. a place I connect with God is outdoors hiking, mountain biking and kayaking. As an introvert, it’s important for me to recharge my battery to better serve the church. I enjoy creating community through strategic board games and super hero movies. My husband, Andrew is a music teacher at Hudson Falls Primary School. We enjoy creating and listening to music of all varieties. We have a son, Lucas, and two dogs, Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne!

I would love to sit down  meet with you. Feel free to call the office and set up an appointment.
